Holly Roberts, associate professor with the School of Physical Therapy, has published a new article in Military Medicine, about establishing normative values for the Head Shake Sensory Organization Test (HS-SOT) in active-duty military personnel. Roberts co-wrote the paper "Normative Values for the Head Shake Sensory Organization Test in an Active Duty Military Cohort." The study's findings indicate that the HS-SOT is a valuable tool for clinicians working with active-duty servicemembers.

After an impressive 21-year career as the Puget Sound athletic director, Amy Hackett is retiring on Dec. 3, 2024. During the Logger's homecoming game, Hackett was celebrated for her exceptional leadership and contributions to the athletic program. She was presented with a framed jersey alongside her son, Quinn. Hackett is the longest-serving athletic director of the combined men's and women's Logger athletics program.

Daniel Nguyen '01 and Katherine Lam were recently inducted into the Asian Hall of Fame, becoming the first Oregon residents to receive this honor. The couple, who are business owners and community leaders, were recognized for their significant contributions to Asian community.
Nguyen and Lam are the founders of Bambuza Hospitality Group, a successful restaurant and retail company with locations throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Professor Frank Pasquale, a leading AI law and policy expert, will deliver the Fall 2024 Susan Resneck Pierce Lecture on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. His talk, "AI vs. Democracy: Post-Truth Politics and Manipulated Publics" explores how AI undermines democratic principles. He'll discuss threats like predictive analytics and deepfakes. Tickets are free for faculty/staff and $20 for the public.
Pasquale is a professor of law at Cornell Tech and Cornell Law School and is an expert on the law of AI, algorithms, and machine learning. His books include The Black Box Society and New Laws of Robotics: Defending Human Expertise in the Age of AI, which analyzes the law and policy influencing the adoption of AI in varied fields. His work has been translated into over a dozen languages, and he is recognized globally as a thought leader in law and technology.

Hundreds of alumni, parents, families, and supporters visited campus this past weekend for Homecoming & Family Weekend. The weekend was filled with fun events, including alumni gatherings, BBQ, musical guests, sporting events and so much more!
