Park Tree Inventory is Back! Register to be a Team Leader
Inventory volunteers use iPads and tree identification books as they inventory trees in Portland parks. Volunteers and Urban Forestry Commission members participate in Park Tree Inventory.
Think you need to know all about trees to help with an inventory? Think again! Park Tree Inventory welcomes all skill levels. This is YOUR time to spend a day in the park, learn about trees and contribute to science. See you soon!
The Tree Inventory Project kicks off in June with our final year of mapping and measuring Portland’s park trees! This year, we will be visiting every tree in 14 parks across the city. Check out the full list of events and registration links on our website.

Ready to take your tree skills to the next level? Become a Team Leader and learn how to identify the many species of trees we find around Portland and lead other volunteers through the inventory process using forestry equipment.

No prior experience is necessary – we will teach you everything you need to know!

Team Leader Training is a two-part training and begins on June 1, 2019. Register here.

Field trainings will be held on:
Note to 2017 and 2018 Team Leaders: You are not required to attend the June 1 training. We ask that you attend one field training session to refresh your skills. Register for the refresher using the same links above.
