News focused on funding & financing
nature-based solutions
Conservation practitioners came to Quebec from six continents earlier this month to focus on land conservation across the globe.  Perhaps we have a soft spot for networks, but the International Land Conservation Network’s 3rd Annual Congress was an extraordinary gathering, bringing together 250 leaders representing indigenous nations and conservation leaders from across many countries’ public, nonprofit and private sectors to tackle the challenges of achieving meaningful and equitable partnerships to secure financing for sustainable conservation and long-term stewardship of conserved areas.  CFN was honored to help advise on the conservation finance track and facilitate one of its five panels that included Tee Thomas of Quantified Ventures; Peter Culp of Culp & Kelly LLP; Candice Stevens of the Sustainable Finance Coalition in South Africa; Morrison Mast of Blue Forest Conservation; and Anastasia Mourogova Millin of Ombrello Solutions in Canada (see ILCN Congress for program, presentations will be posted in the coming weeks).

For matters closer to home, check out Claire Jahns’ article below analyzing the EPA’s recent Climate Pollution Reduction Grants and the role natural and working lands play in state climate action plans. In other CFN news, stay tuned for the early November release of the application for our 18th annual Conservation Finance Boot Camp, which will be in New Haven, CT in June 2025. We are also very excited to introduce our new Project and Operations Manager, Alyssa Doman. Finally, if you are in the US, please be sure to vote on or before November 5th!!
