This was the 8th grade bright and early Monday morning when they left for their trip to Chicago. They are currently on ths bus coming home today! Check out pictures on Facebook by clicking the photo, or on Instagram #ckschicago17.
SCHOOL NOTES FROM MRS. WOODMAN
Dear Families and Friends,
May the fourth be with you! I hope everyone enjoyed the Star Wars themed day and special lunch in the Raider Cafe today.
I announced in April that we have five state level winners this year for the Zaner Bloser Handwriting Contest. Congratulations to Emerson Darr, Hudson Hickey, Kate Miller, Faith Geshwiler, and Marilee Hulse! After learning this terrific news, we later learned that Emerson has placed number one nationally for 2nd grade and is a semi finalist for the Grand National Award. Way to go, Emerson!
Eighth grade got a sleepy-eyed start to their trip on Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. and enjoyed non-stop adventure ever since! Highlights of the trip include a tour of Notre Dame, a very chilly, but winning game for the Chicago Cubs, learning about Planet Nine in our solar system, and viewing a lovely sunset from the top of Willis Tower. What an exceptional group this eighth grade has been!
This Sunday, second grade students will receive their First Holy Communion. Then on Tuesday during our 8:15 school Mass we will honor Mary, our Blessed Mother with a specially planned liturgy. That evening our eighth grade candidates will be confirmed by Fr. Dexter. Each of these sacred liturgies offers our community a time to come together in Christ and pray for the faith and commitment of our young people receiving sacraments. Please join us in person or in spirit to lift your heart and voice in prayer.
Several parents have volunteered to serve as room parents for next year. There are many opportunities available to serve and make new friends. Please watch for a gold form in your Friday Folder this week to sign up. We also have opportunities for volunteers with next year’s Home and School Garage Sale and Crown Affair Gala. Email me (sherry.woodman@cks-nashville.org) or call the office if you would like to share your time or talent in a specific way. We would love to help you find your niche!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sherry Woodman
Principal
