A plan for Vancouver, by Vancouver
|
The decisions we make today will shape Vancouver for decades. That is what the Our Vancouver Comprehensive Plan is all about!
Built with three years of community input and thousands of community ideas, the draft plan is the City’s long-term plan, guiding housing, jobs, open space, transportation, parks, and public services over the next 20 years.
Now you can see how the draft plan and zoning code bring together community feedback, state requirements, and City priorities before it goes to City Council for approval this spring.

Mobile Health Response partnership addresses health of the unhoused on Fourth Plain
|
The City has partnered with Columbia River Mental Health Services to expand its mobile health response efforts for people living unsheltered along the Fourth Plain corridor. About $1.19 million in American Rescue Plan funding supports a dedicated mobile care team (including behavioral/ physical health services and substance use treatment). Columbia River is also providing specialized training for City outreach staff and Safe Stay Community service providers so they can more effectively respond to the unique needs of people experiencing homelessness.
Behind every City policy, program and partnership are real people working to rebuild their lives. People like Taira.

New grant funding approved for struggling Fourth Plain businesses
|
On Feb. 28, City Council approved a $300,000 small business grant program using federal American Rescue Plan Act funds already committed to Fourth Plain. The grants will help local businesses stay open and keep employees working.
Businesses that have lost a large share of their income can apply for grants of up to $10,000 to help pay for rent, payroll, utilities and other basic costs. The grant application is expected to open this April.

Bring your passion to public service
|
We're now accepting applications for openings on 10 City boards and commissions. These boards give our community a direct voice in shaping the policies that impact Vancouver’s livability, and future. You don’t need a long resume or political experience, just a passion for this city and a desire to help shape its future. Meet current board members and learn more about serving at a drop-in Pizza and Public Service open house on March 18.

Gearing up for summer paving season
|
Prep is underway for the pavement season. Proactive pruning is ongoing through June. Crews are pruning trees and vegetation to clear the way for pavement equipment. Installation and upgrades of ADA curb ramps will start this month. We will resurface or preserve parts of major streets, including W. Fourth Plain Boulevard, N.E. Saint Johns Road, Mill Plain Boulevard, N.E. 136th Avenue, S.E. 164th Avenue and S.E. 192nd Avenue. Residential streets in more than ten neighborhoods will see pavement work.
