As seniors begin to move into the final stretch of their college search process, most will be receiving their remaining decisions in the coming weeks. We know that this period can feel exciting, but also overwhelming, for students and families alike. Many students will encounter disappointing news--denials or waitlist decisions--and these moments can be challenging for students, often bringing up feelings of sadness, frustration, or self-doubt. Families play an essential role in helping students manage these emotions with care, perspective, and resilience.
To support you during this pivotal period, we invite you to join us for a special program:
"Dealing with Denial and Managing Maybe"
Navigating the emotional challenges of disappointing and confusing college admissions outcomes can be difficult for students and their families. This interactive session equips families to provide compassionate and effective support during this critical time. Led by a licensed clinical psychologist and two seasoned college counselors, the workshop will feature guided role-plays that simulate real-life conversations between students and parents.
Participants will learn to recognize emotional responses, validate feelings, and provide constructive guidance to help families make their students feel seen and heard. The session will also cover best practices in fostering resilience, managing expectations, and maintaining positive motivation for students facing disappointment. Families will leave with practical strategies, language tools, and confidence in offering meaningful support as they navigate this challenging phase with empathy and expertise.
