SCHOOL NOTES FROM MRS. WOODMAN
Dear Families and Friends,
We have some stellar student achievements to applaud this week. First I would like to recognize our STEM Fair winners from last week’s science event. Congratulations to Iris Casey (1st Place), Eleonore Ness (2nd Place), and Ella Cox (3rd Place) for the lower school. In our middle school division we congratulate Sean Meffe (1st Place), Jack Halloran (2nd Place), and Kailey Nicholson (3rd Place). Honorable mentions from one or more judges go to Sam Halloran, Maria St. Charles, Grace Wehby, Henry Hill, Caroline Meyer, and Kathryn McCormick.
We have learned that four of our middle school students will be receiving awards as State Grade-Level Winners in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest. We are very proud of Audrey Rose Hulse, 5th Grade, Kailey Nicholson, 6th grade, Grace Holland, 7th Grade, and Kendall St. Charles, 8th Grade, for their meticulously legible handwriting. These students’ entries will advance to the Grand National Championship. Semi-Finalists and Grand National Champions are announced in May. Good luck, girls!
Our seventh grade class once again has students receiving state level recognition in the Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP). Congratulations to Mark Bryant, Grace Darke, Joseph Maffei, Joseph Mugnano, and Emma Rehse!
Last night, eighth grade students Sophie Goetz, Ellie Bryan, Sydney Long, and Kylie Smith received 2nd place in the Catholic Campaign for Human Development Multimedia Contest for their painting, The Journey. Twenty additional CKS students received Honorable Mention or Very Honorable Mention in this contest that combines social justice and creative expression.
Accolades in math, science, language arts, and fine arts - well done, Raiders!
Finally, I wish to extend prayer and well wishes from our community to Van Morgan, 6th grade, as he makes his First Communion this weekend during 4:30 Mass.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sherry Woodman
Principal
