BYRNE TEAM WINS PRESTIGIOUS SYRACUSE TRIAL COMPETITION

Byrne Trial Advocacy Team members Carol Ibrahim, Darshan Patel, Rima Sahakyan and Charron Varona were named champions of the Syracuse National Trial Competition this past weekend -- marking the team's second year in a row of winning. The LLS squad competed against 21 other teams, defeating University of Buffalo in the semifinals and Georgetown in the finals. Sahakyan won Best Advocate in the Final Round; Varona won Best Direct Exam in the preliminary rounds. Director of Trial Advocacy Programs Susan Poehls coached the team along with alumna Abigail Hudson '19 and Professors Laurie Levenson and Sean Kennedy.

ORCHESTRATING A PHOTO DEAL IN THE PUBLIC'S INTEREST

Munger, Tolles & Olson Partner George Fatheree ‘07 will discuss from 12-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20 his role in structuring the deal of a lifetime. Fatheree and a team of lawyers had 48 hours to put together a bid by the J. Paul Getty Trust and a consortium of other foundations to save millions of irreplaceable photos of prominent African Americans from being auctioned off in bankruptcy. Keeping the archive in the public domain helps preserve the collection for future generations.
