    Our Publications - March
THE INFECTION & IMMUNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM FEATURES 5  KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

    1) Dr. Vincent Racaniello, Higgins Professor of Microbiology & Immunology
Mt. Sinai School of Medicine of Columbia University, NY

    • Dr. Racaniello's group studies Picornavirus pathogenesis, the interaction of viruses with the innate immune system, and viral discovery in wild animals.  Dr. Racaniello is actively involved in educating the public about viruses and viral disease and is the host of "This Week in Virology". His blog can be found here: http://www.virology.wsPublications from Dr. Racaniello can be found at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=racaniello+v

    2) Dr. Denise M. Monack, Associate Professor of Microbiology & Immunology
    Stanford School of Medicine

    • Dr. Monack's group aims to understand how the host recognizes and responds to intracellular bacterial pathogens. Another focus of the Monack lab is to understand the interactions of Salmonella with the host. Salmonella is a foodborne pathogen and thus comes into direct contact  with the gut microbes. One of the most recent areas of study in the Monack group is the interactions between Salmonella, the gut microbiota and the immune system and how do these interactions influence chronic infection and transmission. Publications can be found at: https://med.stanford.edu/profiles/denise-monack?tab=publications

    3) Dr. Adrian Erlebacher, Associate Professor of Pathology
    NYU School of Medicine

    4) Dr. Raul Andino, Professor of Microbiology & Immunology
University of California - San Francisco

    • Dr. Andino's group studies the molecular mechanisms of RNA virus replication, host strategies that control viral infection and the corresponding viral mechanisms to suppress the host response, and; virus population dynamics and evolution at the molecular and genomic levels. Publications can be found at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=andino+r

    5) Dr. Richard Locksley, Professor of Medicine, HHMI Investigator
University of California - San Francisco
