Dear ATMIA Member,
As we begin with the next phase of the Next Generation Banknote Programme, new $100 Test Material for Banknote Equipment Manufacturers will be available from late November. ATMIA remains in constant communication with the RBA to ensure the last phase of the program is successful. The RBA remains on target with their schedule, with the new $100 banknote expected to enter full circulation by late 2020. This once again highlights cash remaining more accessible and secure means of payment for the Australian economy, especially in light of the numerous internet outage experienced throughout 2019.
Our final Strategic Direction Committee teleconference for 2019 will be held on 4 December at 4 pm AEST. This forum will begin with an update from the RBA on Next Generation Banknote as we enter the final phase of the project. Representatives from the police forces from various states will share an update on crimes against ATMs and a representative from the Treasury Department will share details regarding the implementation of the Black Economy Taskforce report, particularly with respect to cash limits.
We encourage all members to participate in this forum, as it’s a great opportunity to raise any questions or to address industry issues. Please contact Sandra.smith@atmia.com to resend the dial-up details.
A reminder of the ATM Innovation and Security event held in Kuala Lumpur on 19th-21st November. With less than a week to go, this event is firming up to be a great success with delegates coming from across the world. It's not too late to attend this event and stay at the forefront of this industry in 2020. Click here to register.
Thanks,

Mike Lee on stage at an ATMIA conference in Rome talking about next-generation ATMs.
|
| ATMIA CEO Q&A: 'Cash and digital payments need to coexist'
Contributing Editor: Amy Castor, ATMmarketplace.com
Mike Lee is the quintessential diplomat. The CEO of the ATM Industry Association greets you with a smile and a warm handshake. He is the sort of person who appears to always have time for everyone.
But in meeting him, what you quickly learn is that despite his pleasant demeanor, Lee is a man with strong convictions, fiercely devoted to defending the use of cash.
Last week at ATMIA Europe in Rome, ATM Marketplace caught up with him over cappuccino for a long chat about the war on cash and the future of ATMs. We even asked him about bitcoin.
