Black History Month 2022

Departments across campus have events planned throughout February to recognize and celebrate Black History Month at the University of Utah. The theme for 2022, picked by planning committee members, will be "Authentically U."

Join us as we learn how recent anthropological collaborations with indigenous communities and other local partners reveal insights at the interface of traditional knowledge and science. The Social Solutions Series explores how social and environmental challenges facing our world can be addressed by social and behavioral science research.

2022-2023 On-Campus Housing

The summer 2022 and 2022-2023 academic year housing applications open to all admitted and enrolled students on Feb. 10 through their CIS portal. Housing & Residential Education has a variety of spaces for students across campus. Housing is not guaranteed, so students are encouraged to begin exploring their options now and apply by the priority deadlines. First-year students may submit an application prior to confirming their intent to enroll. 

HRE Housing Application Timeline:
  • February 10: Housing application opens in Housing U in CIS
  • March 10: Living Leanring (LLC) and Theme Communities (TC)  Priority Deadline
  • April 1: Traditional Housing Priority Deadline

Center for Health Outcomes and Population Equity (HOPE) Research Assistants

The Center for Health Outcomes and Population Equity (HOPE) is currently looking for Undergraduate Research Assistants. Research Assistants will be working with a team headed by Dr. David Wetter and Dr. Cho Lam on mobile health (mHealth) and other studies targeting tobacco cessation.

We must address and commit to taking action again anti-Black racism if we are to truly center the work required to grow an equitable and inclusive university community. We know that no single solution is going to work for every community; but we also know that solving for anti-Black racism gives us the best chance at recreating our systems to ensure equity for all.
