California State Fair Partners with ASUS, Twitch, and NRG Esports to Host the First–ever Bear Cup Esports Gaming Tournament July 12-28, 2019
(Sacramento) - The California State Fair today announced it is partnering with live-streaming service Twitch and gaming/computer company ASUS and multi-team organization, NRG Esports to host a first-ever statewide Esports Tournament at the California State Fair, July 12-July 28, 2019.
The new Bear Cup tournament will be conducted during all 17 days of the State Fair and will feature leading competitive multiplayer games such as Fortnite, Overwatch, NBA2K, Apex Legends, Super Smash Bros, League of Legends and more. The Kings Guard and NRG Esports, owner of the Northern California franchise in the Overwatch League - the San Francisco Shock, will participate in the tournament and be available for free play and a meet-and-greet with the general public.
“The 2019 California State Fair is shaping up to be one of the most adrenaline-charged yet,” said Rick Pickering, Cal Expo General Manager and CEO. “In keeping with the State Fair's mission of highlighting our State's promising future, we're excited to showcase California's advances in technology through the creation of the Bear Cup - a celebration of California's dynamic online gaming industry and its community of players."
The top three finishers in each division will be awarded cash or other prizes.
