Hi there!
Believe it or not, your journey to GW and your move into your home away from home for the 2023-2024 academic year will be here in a few short weeks! We hope you are excited about this next chapter of your life. We also recognize that you likely have a few questions as you start/continue with your final preparations. We hope this move-in preview helps!

Important: Your Move-In Date & Timeslot |
All first-year students will move in on Aug. 18-20, except for a few groups of students (ie: athletes, pre-orientation program participants) who are approved to arrive on Aug. 16 & 17. All transfer students will move in on Aug. 19, with few exceptions that have been communicated directly to CLRE.
|
-
If you haven’t selected a date & time to move in, please sign up for a move-in timeslot on the Campus Living E-Services Portal by Aug. 1. By letting us know your arrival date and time, we can have your U•Pass, parking voucher, welcome bag, and other important materials prepared and ready for you to have a successful move-in. Note: If you do not choose by Aug. 1, we will assign you a timeslot within the designated move-in period.
-
If you’ve already chosen a date & time to move-in, thank you! This helps us to prepare for your arrival! We recommend that you log into the Campus Living E-Services Portal to double-check that your date & time is what you remembered choosing earlier this summer. And also, please use this time to double-check airline/train tickets or with your driver to ensure your travel itinerary is set.
- If you are approved for an early move-in, please confirm your arrival in your Campus Living E-Services Portal. If your arrival plans need to be adjusted, we recommend you reach out to your program liaison, who can coordinate w/the CLRE team.

Reminder: Submit your GWorld ID Photo! |
Your GWorld Card grants you access to campus, including all academic buildings, the library, your residence hall, dining, and more. If you have not submitted your photo to the GWorld Office so that they can create your card, please do so by July 28.
If you submitted your photo, thank you! You should have received a confirmation email that your card was created. You can pick up your GWorld card when you check in to your residence hall.
If you do not submit your photo by the July 28 deadline, you will be issued a 48-hour temporary access card to your room when you move in until a permanent card can be issued. Note: Temporary access cards cannot be renewed. You will then have to stand in line at the GWorld office during their business hours so they can take your photo and process your card on-site. Based on prior years, the wait could be two to three hours. To avoid this line, be sure to submit your photo now!
Contact the GWorld Office directly if you have any questions.

What to Pack/What to Bring |
We've put together a list of recommended items for you to bring to campus. Remember that for the safety of our residential students, there are also prohibited items you should not bring. Remember to consult with your roommate(s) ahead of time to make sure you’re not both purchasing the same items that you intend to share!

|
Whether you are coming by plane, train, or automobile, you may find it easier to mail yourself a few packages to lighten the load as you travel to campus. If you do, please follow these instructions:
Plan your delivery so that your package arrives a few days before arrival and no more than one week prior.
|
Follow this template to address the package to yourself using your room and building address:

INSIDER TIPS!
1. Provide your address information to your friends & family. Maybe someone will surprise you by sending a care package.
2. Wait for GW’s Mail and Package Services (MPS) to notify you that your package has arrived. The notification you may receive from FedEx/UPS only indicates it was dropped off to central receiving. it will take a moment for MPS to process the arrival.
