Greek Life
Fraternity and sorority life is frequently called Greek life because of the use of Greek letters within their names.
Sororities are social and professional groups for women. Fraternities are social and professional groups for men. The word sorority is derived from the Latin word that means sisterhood. Similarly, the word fraternity is derived from the Latin word that means brotherhood. As a result, members of sororities and fraternities are often referred to as “sisters” and “brothers”.  Sororities and fraternities each have their own colors, motto, and symbol. Roughly 30% of all Miami students are members of Greek organizations on campus.

Club Sports and Intramural Sports
Club sports teams compete against other colleges and universities, whereas intramural sports compete on campus between other Miami students. The purpose of a club sport is to participate in physical activity with the primary emphasis being off-campus competition and instruction. A club sport has a conference, division, or governing body that oversees the rules & regulations associated with the sport. Intramurals provide the Miami community structured sporting activities with an emphasis on participation, fun and safety. Intramural activities are voluntary in nature and each participant is given an opportunity to participate in a sport of their choice regardless of physical abilities and skill level.

Intercollegiate Athletics
The RedHawks compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-American Conference, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, and the U.S. Figure Skating Association.
Miami Athletics provides students with the opportunity to be the team behind the team. Whether it's attending a home event (for free!), joining Code Red and traveling to an away game, or interning in the department, all students make a difference on game day.

Q. How did you get involved on campus?

A. "If you want to make the experience at Miami to the fullest, you must get involved in some co-curricular activities. "The Hub" is a great place to find numerous student organizations, and I am quite confident that you will be able to find something there that you love to do. There are always some fun events going on here, you just need to attend. To name a few, Jazz reception event, murder mystery dinner, tea tasting event, etc. Moreover, you can follow any sports here at Miami. I go crazy watching our Ice Hockey team play in the Goggin Ice Center and trust me you will too.                             ---- Mainul Sabbir
A. "Last year, the most clichéd advice that I received during my transition to college was to get involved on campus. I met so many amazing people during club meetings and events for Engineers Without Borders, Asian American Association, Girls Who Code, and during practice sessions for Club Table-Tennis. Working as a Teaching Assistant and Student Orientation Undergraduate Leader (SOUL) or being employed at Access MU and the Dining Commons has proved to be extremely helpful. It is not only a means to generate income but also creates a sense of strong community. I noticed that there is always something interesting happening at Miami. It is essential to make use of the resources provided to us."                                                                            ---- Shakshi Shah

You Can Participate in Pre-semester Programs
Miami's pre-semester programs, called Miami Bound, present opportunities for new students to engage in learning, leading, and connecting to Miami and other new students before fall semester classes begin. Through Miami Bound programs, new students can meet other new students with common interests, build community that connects them to Miami, learn about campus services and resources, and get a head start on getting involved. Miami Bound programs are optional and may require an additional cost to participate.
