The Downtown Tucson Partnership's (DTP) Social Justice Committee, along with our funding partners at HSL Properties, are thrilled to announce the 2024 awardees of the Downtown Tucson for Everyone grant program. These events and programs demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion while reaching underserved communities.

We are equally excited to welcome two new local businesses downtown including a fun new bar and tattoo shop. We're highlighting one of our beloved downtown schools and an opportunity to give back to downtown nonprofits. Downtown will be packed this weekend with lots of events to enjoy, especially for art lovers and vegan friends. Read more below.

Downtown Tucson For Everyone Grant Awardees

The DTP's Social Justice Committee is excited to announce the 13 awardees of the Downtown Tucson for Everyone grant program for 2024. This year's grant program was co-sponsored by HSL Properties and the DTP. Check out the full list of awardees here.

New Bar in Renovated Historic Space

Tabu Bar & Restaurant is now open at 128 E. Congress Street, featuring cocktails, food, live music and dance. Imagine yourself lounging with good company, enjoying libations, trying some new bites and grooving to some tunes. Learn more from this Tucson Foodie article.

Get Some Ink at Evil Eye Tattoo

Evil Eye Tattoo opened its doors at 47 S. 6th Avenue this January. Owner and tattoo artist, Nikki Turner, specializes in large work (sleeves, half-sleeves, back pieces and the like), small-scale/minimalist tattooing, color (bombastic or mellow), black and grey, cover-ups, and reworks. Support Downtown Nonprofits

Making a tax credit gift to a downtown nonprofit is an amazing way to support critical services happening downtown and gives you a dollar-for-dollar reduction of your tax liability.

Donations to Imago Dei Middle School make up about 80% of the school’s operating budget and help sustain their tuition-free school for children from low-income and under-resourced families. According to Cameron Taylor, Head of School at Imago Dei, “Tax credits are the energy that fuels the school’s mission of breaking the cycle of poverty through education.”

Shop From Over 100 Local Artisans this Weekend

The Tucson Museum of Art Spring Artisans Market begins today through the weekend, March 1-3. Market hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. The market features more than 100 local artists and artisans with crafts, original artwork, pottery, glass, jewelry, textiles, and gift items. Learn more and see the vendor list here.

Try Some Tasty Food at the Vegan Night Market

The popular Vegan Night Market is back this Saturday, March 2 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. at the Owl’s Club (236 S. Scott Avenue) and the south lawn of the Children’s Museum Tucson (200 S. Sixth Avenue). Produced by Death Free Foodie and Tucson Foodie, the Vegan Night Market will showcase 30+ vendors including restaurants, food artisans, artists and specialty shops. View a full vendor list here.
