The Health Data Science poster showcase will be held on Monday, April 24 from 12:00-2:00 PM at the Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans Center for Medical Education (Trent Semans) on the sixth floor.

We’re excited that this cross-disciplinary event will be hosted by multiple organizations, including Duke AI Health, the Laboratory for Transformative Administration, and the Center for Computational Thinking.

More than 25 posters will be presented, including submissions from the AI Health Fellowship Program, the Department of Computer Science, and Duke Clinical Research Institute. Read the complete list of participating organizations.

Information tables representing programs across Duke will include the +Programs; Duke AI Health; Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD); Center for Computational Thinking; Duke Data Analytics Community; and the Master of Management in Clinical Informatics.

Awards will be given for the Best Computational Thinking Poster and the Good DEEDS Award (Ethical and Equitable Data Science).

This fall, an exciting new university-wide course, UNIV103 --Let’s Talk About Digital You is available. The course, whose subtitle is A Technical and Ethical Exploration of a Data-Centric World, is open to all Duke undergraduates.

The course will explore the technology associated with several common digital experiences in our daily lives and delve into the ethical, political and social implications of each. Topics include generative art, cybersecurity, and the surveillance economy. Taught by faculty from across campus and designed by leaders from Science & Society's Digital Intelligence Certificate program and the Center for Computational Thinking, the course is aimed at providing students with the critical thinking skills they need to navigate our rapidly changing world.

The new university course, UNIV 103: Let’s Talk About Digital You, is hiring fourteen Teaching Assistants (TAs) and two Head Teaching Assistants (HTAs) for Fall 2023.

To ensure full coverage of UNIV103’s broad scope, we are hiring two teams of TAs – Computational Thinking TAs, who have expertise in technologies, and Technology Ethics TAs, who have expertise in technological ethics.

The application deadline is April 28, 2023.
