Let's Talk Paramount Park and Southeast Wheat Ridge

The City's Let’s Talk Resident Engagement Program is currently engaging residents in Paramount Park and Southeast Wheat Ridge. Residents of these neighborhoods can share their thoughts on what they love about where they live and what could be improved by taking an online survey before October 7. Take the online survey here for Paramount Park residents, and here for residents of Southeast Wheat Ridge.

Apple Cider Day

Join the Wheat Ridge Historical Society on October 8 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. for Apple Cider Day! The event will be at the Wheat Ridge Historical Park (4610 N Robb St).
Bring your apples and a clean container to use their cider press. There will be live music, food trucks, and craft demonstrations.

Birds of Prey 

Join the fun on Tuesday, October 11 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, to experience an amazing program, provided by Hawkquest! The program features a Bald or a Golden eagle, an owl, a falcon, and a free-flying hawk. Attendees will learn about the importance of different raptor species, their specially-adapted tools, and their role in our ecosystems. Register here

Regenerate Wheat Ridge

The final 2022 Regenerate Wheat Ridge workshop is about “Tree Care and Overwintering”. The event will take place at Happiness Gardens (4600 Ammons St.) on Wednesday, October 12 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. The workshop will be led by Wheat Ridge’s forestry team and will give tips and best practices for tree care and overwintering. Fitness Court Grand Opening 

Wheat Ridge will unveil a much anticipated Fitness Court®, with a supporting mobile app at Panorama Park Thursday, October 13 at 9 a.m. Residents are invited to attend an opening day launch event to try the Fitness Court® and learn about upcoming community wellness events and programming.

WRPD in Costumes

Costumes with Cops 

The Wheat Ridge Police Department is launching a new Halloween event, “Costumes with a Cop”, on October 15 in front of the WRPD entrance (7500 W 29th Avenue). Kids are invited to get costumes, play games, and get treat bags. Costumes are first come first serve, and each child only gets one costume.

Prospect Park Reopening

You’re invited to Prospect Park’s re-opening event after the completion of phase two of the park’s renovation work on Saturday, October 15 at 10 a.m. The event highlights the remarkable improvements made, with delicious refreshments and fun giveaways. Learn more about the renovation here.

44th Ave Subarea Plan Logo

44th Avenue: The Final Phase

Engagement continues for the 44th Avenue Subarea Plan, which will set forth the future vision of W. 44th Avenue and surrounding areas between Clear Creek and I-70. The project has been focused in three phases, vision and foundation, strategy and synthesis, and final recommendations and action. 

For those who were unable to attend the last open house last month, an online questionnaire is available on the project page through October that mirrors the open house activities.

The project is in the process of replacing old infrastructure – some dating back to the 1950s! The corridor is undergoing a major overhaul and your continued patience traveling through the work zone is appreciated. Thank you for supporting our local businesses during construction.

Maria D'Andrea

The City of Wheat Ridge welcomes Maria D'Andrea as the new Public Works Director!
D'Andrea will oversee the Public Works department which is responsible for maintaining and improving the streets of Wheat Ridge. Prior to Wheat Ridge, she served as the Director of Public Works for cities in the Denver Metro area. D'Andrea has significant experience with development standards and the associated infrastructure.
“Maria is hard-working, self-driven, and focused. Her years of experience working in public service is going to be a great asset to the City of Wheat Ridge and to the Public Works Department.,” said City of Wheat Ridge Manager Patrick Goff.

Amanda Harrison 

The City of Wheat Ridge welcomes Amanda Harrison as the Communications and Engagement Manager!

“Amanda is a passionate marketing and communications professional, whose 10-years of experience will be instrumental in keeping Wheat Ridge’s residents informed about our strategic plans and priorities for the future,” said Director of Administrative Services Allison Scheck.

Harrison will be responsible for outgoing communications from the City, brand management, public relations, website and social media initiatives, content development and acts as the City’s main spokesperson.
