Dear Student,
It has now been one year since Miami University moved fully online in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Some of you have not been on campus, or even in the US, since March 2020. Others, who began studies in Fall 2020 or Spring 2021, have never been to campus. You have all been greatly missed. Your presence on campus provides a richness and a vibrance that has been noticeably absent. Studying online presents a number of challenges, and international students who are outside the US have had the added challenge of taking courses in different time zones that require class meetings during the middle of the night. We recognize the sacrifices you have made and are inspired by your resilience and dedication.
We know there are a variety of hurdles to returning to campus. Many of you are in countries that are currently subject to travel restrictions that prevent direct entry into the US. Some may be concerned about the vaccination process in the US and to what extent our population will be vaccinated by August. There may be a variety of other concerns. We want to hear from you to understand what your primary concerns are. We are committed to working with you to answer your questions, provide information, and assist with your return to campus. The ISSS office is a great resource for information about obtaining the documents necessary to return and is offering monthly webinars to provide information and answer questions. Watch your email for more details.
Above all, please know that we are deeply committed to your success at Miami University and to seeing you earn your diploma from our great institution. We can’t wait to see you back on campus this fall. In the meantime, please continue to stay safe and healthy.
Love and Honor,
Molly Heidemann
