Public Forum Topic Selection » Don't forget, later this week, chapter advisors and member students can vote online to choose their favorite PF topic for the month of February. Visit www.speechanddebate.org/topics to login in and access the ballot. Voting ends December 31 at 4:00 p.m. CT.
Ensuring Access to Speech and Debate » We are pleased to announce we have accepted the proposal from Thomas Mayes, J.D. for the inaugural speech and debate education conference entitled, “Ensuring Access to Speech and Debate for Students with Disabilities.” This session will review federal laws requiring schools to provide students with disabilities an equal opportunity for participation in extracurricular and nonacademic activities. Mayes will explain how those laws apply to speech and debate and the support that schools and associations may be obligated to provide. NATIONAL SPEECH AND DEBATE EDUCATION DAY
Save the Date » March 3 is National Speech and Debate Education Day. Join us in celebrating the students and coaches who are practicing the essential art of communication and transforming tomorrow with speech and debate acitivities. Here’s the latest info you need to know: 
State Resolutions » We are working to secure another U.S. Senate resolution this year recognizing National Speech and Debate Education Day, as well as state-level resolutions to spread awareness about our activity. If you have any leads or connections that could bring a resolution that honors your state's coaches and students to the floor in your state legislature, please email steve.schappaugh@speechanddebate.org
Educator of the Year »  As part of our celebration, we will announce the inaugural Educator of the Year Award recipient. Do you know a teacher who has enhanced the quality of education in speech and debate? Nominate them here by January 20! The recipient of this award will recieve free registration for the education conference and be invited to deliver a speech for attendees.
