Freshwater Opportunities Bulletin

The Freshwater Opportunities Bulletin is published the first Wednesday of each month except July and August. It provides information about water-related conferences, collaborative courses and field experiences, undergraduate research positions and internships, and other opportunities for students, faculty, and staff at the Universities of Wisconsin.

Please share information with students and colleagues on your campus.

The fall Great Lakes Freshwater Symposium will feature Alaina Harkness, CEO of Current and CEO and PI of Great Lakes RENEW, an NSF-funded, six-state initiative.

The conversation will explore the opportunities for academics, policymakers, nonprofits, and industry leaders to collaborate on advancing freshwater innovation, driving resilience in the face of growing water challenges, and ensuring the region’s global competitiveness and national security.

Part-time Field Interviewer at Wisconsin Maritime Museum

Interview visitors to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc. You will gather important feedback that will help develop impactful visitor experiences. This visitor monitoring survey is led by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and West Virginia University. Students will be hired by West Virginia University, but duties will take place in Wisconsin.

The 2026 Lakes and Rivers Convention is accepting presentation proposals for lightning talks and poster presentations. Students are encouraged to sumbit. The event will take place April 15-17 in Stevens Point. Details here.
