You're 3ish Months from Publication!

This is the second digest you'll be getting this month because, in addition to podcast pitching, now is a great time to be sending out longreads/op-ed pitches! Longread articles are essentially essays/op-eds that can run in newspapers or literary blogs. 

Articles/essays can be about anything! You don't have to stick with just topics about or regarding your forthcoming book. 

Try to think of 3-5 topics that you feel comfortable enough writing an essay about. Think about what people are talking about now. Can you add anything to the existing conversation? Do you have a unique perspective or take on something that might add something interesting or different to the discourse?

In the Resource/Rec List spreadsheet, there's a tab for suggestions on where you can pitch your articles for publication. Start there but also think of other blogs, journals, newspapers, or periodicals where you think your work might fit. For example, if you wrote an essay on botany, consider submitting the essay to botany journals, magazines, or blogs.

We're almost there! As I noted in our last digest, the book has likely been sent to print with your as-is approval. In the Media and Marketing Department, we continue to send out pitches and review copies, Kate and Mark are dropping galleys off at indie bookstores around the country as their travel allows, and we're keeping our sales reps updated on all new developments!
