Helpful Resources for the Academic Year

Dear Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you well. Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, an opportunity to honor rich cultural traditions and to acknowledge the historical injustices, colonization, and discrimination that Indigenous peoples have faced and continue to confront. It is my great honor to work at a university that is truly committed to preserving and revitalizing Indigenous languages, arts, crafts, and traditions through Indigenous Nations Studies and Indigenous Health degrees, the Native American Student and Community Center, and our Cultural Resource Centers.
In this newsletter, you will find valuable resources, including information on employee and student wellness programs offered by the university. Attending to the well-being of our community members is a shared priority.
We have also shared information about changes in leadership within the Office of Academic Affairs. We hope these transitions will continue to support and develop the future of our academic programs.
Thank you for being part of the Portland State University community. Together, we are committed to creating an inclusive and vibrant environment that celebrates diversity, promotes academic excellence, and supports the well-being of all our members.
Sincerely,
Shelly Chabon, Ph.D.
Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
