UMKC at Disney 100: Family Makerspace Staff Volunteers Needed for Oct. 19

UMKC is a proud sponsor of the Disney 100 exhibit at Union Station. Join us for UMKC Day at Disney 100 on Oct. 19 for special UMKC presentations that are free after admission purchase.
Staff Council Outreach Committee is partnering with The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures to help with their workshop on the history of the UMKC Roo. During this workshop, attendees will make their own Roo stuffed animals. We need volunteers to assist from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Interested staff can register here to volunteer.

Oct. 7-31, Collection Drive for Della Lamb: Donate cleaning supplies to Della Lamb Community Services, an agency who serves thousands of low-income families in our Kansas City community. Drop off boxes are available in the Medical School and Atterbury Student Success Center (ASSC).
Dec. 7, Harvesters Volunteer Day: Families and children ages 8 and up are welcome to join. The UMKC team will be assigned a task, like sorting food, packing backpack snacks, or working in the coolers. Space is limited, register by Nov. 22.

Considering UMKC Graduate Programs: Oct. 29, 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Are you a staff member pondering graduate study at UMKC? Attend Staff Council Presents: Considering UMKC Graduate Programs on Oct. 29, 3:00 p.m - 4:30 p.m. The event will be held in Student Union 302 and virtually.
Presenters will review UMKC graduate programs, information on the admissions process, and details on the UM System Tuition Assistance program. This event will also feature a Q&A from staff who have completed or are completing UMKC graduate programs, addressing life as a UMKC student and staff member. Select graduate programs will also table to share information and answer individual questions. Register today.

Trunk or Treat: Oct. 30, 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Fraternity and Sorority Affairs will host its inaugural Trunk or Treat, Oct. 30, 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Administrative Center parking lot. We invite UMKC staff and their families to dress up and celebrate the spooky season. We hope to have participation from the entire UMKC community. Contact fsa@umkc.edu for more information.

LGBTQIA Programs & Services is excited to celebrate LGBTQIA History Month this Oct. 2024. LGBTQIA History Month is a chance for our UMKC community to reflect and learn more about the experiences, culture, and history of LGBTQIA people. We invite UMKC staff to attend events including:
- Oct. 11: National Coming Out Day and Rainbow Read-In, 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Miller Nichols Library (MNL). Register using this link.
- Oct. 17: Open Safe Space Training, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Register using this link.
