Week 0: We outhear! edition.

Hello Tritons, hello! Welcome to What We’ve Learned, aka your favorite newsletter’s favorite newsletter.

Just so you know: this publication is odd – in that it’s typically published on odd weeks during the quarter. And it's somewhat unusual, because it delivers important updates to Tritons with (we hope) a refreshing balance of information and fun. Get into it!

As you’ll see, our writing style can be (is) pun-heavy, and sometimes (always!) reference-dense – but you’ll never not find links to the info that you need-to-know, below.

Do it before the ‘gram.

From guidance on morning monitoring of COVID symptoms to masking requirements re: when-to-wear (and where!), Return to Learn’s On-Campus Checklist has all the deets to keep you kicking and screening (and vaxxing and testing) in accordance with current campus policies. So please, make it a habit to make it happen pre-morning scroll.

Some key takeaways:

Masking for a friend: Regardless of your personal vax status, respect and protect those around you by masking up in all indoor classroom/instructional settings, clinical areas, and on Triton/university transportation. Need one to wear? Visit the link above for KNo-cost KN95s on campus.
Symptom? I hardly knew ‘em: Be sure to complete your daily symptom screener every day that you’re coming to campus – or really, any day that you want to keep others from sharing whatever new sniffle you’re working with.

A quick reminder: You are NOT alone in feeling both a little bit nervous and a little bit excited about being either a) back on campus; or b) here for the first time.

Tradish best served. UC San Diego is steeped in traditions – the sharing of which can help our new and continuing Tritons feel welcome and included. Quick Hits and Bits

All’s fair in loving Warren. Next Wednesday, Sept. 28, Student Health and Well-Being is hosting their second annual Well-Being Fair to promote the eight dimensions of wellness. Campus resources representing each of the dimensions will be in attendance, with workshops, classes, and – obvi – free swag for early attendees (s/o @UCSDFreeStuff).
Heritage for it. Through October, UC San Diego is commemorating Latinx Heritage Month with an exciting lineup of student-centered film screenings, live performances, a visit to a Chicanx art center, and more. We'll be there.
