Please review the following information carefully, as it concerns product safety and reliability and requires action on your part.
Our records show that you purchased a Condair RS Series I humidifier unit manufactured between September 2015 and September 2024 ("Affected RS Series I Unit”). Recently, we have identified a combination of age-related and external factors that can lead to conditions which may result in severe electrical damage within the affected RS Series I Unit. Condair has received no reports of the conditions leading to any damage beyond the Affected RS Series I Unit or causing any injuries.
To mitigate these risks, Condair has developed a retrofit kit which should be installed on affected RS Series I Units no later than the next scheduled maintenance or February 28th, 2026 whichever is earlier. Failure to complete these upgrades in a timely manner increases the risk of severe equipment failure.
Additionally, a software update has been developed for all RS Series I and RS Series II units, which improves water level management. It is recommended that this update is installed on all units during the next scheduled maintenance as well.
Summary of Retrofit Kit & Updates Described Below
- GFCI Board
- Addition of Copper Lugs on Solid State Relays (SSR) – For Precision Units Only
- Software Update
Why These Retrofits & Updates Are Important
GFCI Board:
This board helps detect ground current leakage and automatically shuts the unit down to help prevent serious electrical damage and other electrical hazards.
Copper Lugs on SSR – For Precision Units Only:
Adding copper lugs improves wire connections to the SSR, reducing the likelihood of wire strand separation and overheating.
Software Update:
Adds cycle counters to track contactor usage and warn when replacement is due. Helps plan maintenance and avoid unexpected downtime.
Introduces daily float test to detect issues with floats becoming stuck, reducing the risk of false water level readings causing the water level to drop below minimum safe levels as the humidifier operates.
The RS Series II model (launched in September 2024) already includes the GFI board and copper lugs as standard features and do not require electrical retrofits. The software update is still strongly recommended for units produced between September 9th, 2024 and August 2025 for the reasons stated above. A separate technical bulletin will be circulated to RS Series II model owners with instructions for the software update.
