UMKC Career Services and Bloch Career Center (in partnership with Staff Council Outreach Committee) are having their annual UMKC Blazer Drive for the Professional Wardrobe Studio now until Dec 15. Blazers are in high demand and we can use your help. Donate blazers this season to help future professionals transition from college to career. Sport coats and suit jackets are welcome. First Two Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) Games: Dec. 12 & Dec. 13
The Roo Tabletop Games League is a brand new Staff Council Community Group. The intro games for the Roo Tabletop Games League take place Dec. 12 and 13. Dec. 12 will be a D5 game. Dec. 13 will be space-themed. If you would like to join, please email Dylan Green.
Nominations for 2024 Annual Staff Awards Open: Dec. 20 Deadline
Time is running out to nominate your colleagues for the 2024 Annual Staff Awards. Staff, faculty, and students may nominate staff members for these awards presented to staff at the annual Staff Awards event in the spring. If you have a colleague who demonstrates excellence at UMKC, nominate them by Dec. 20.
Help Needed at Spring 2024 Roo Welcome: Jan. 16 - Feb. 2
Spring 2024 Roo Welcome is just around the corner. Roo Welcome begins Jan. 16, and takes place the first three weeks of Spring semester. We need UMKC staff to serve as Welcome Table greeters, as well as help with the Union Takeover event. UMKC staff can also register their unit/department/office for the Campus Resource Fair, submit events to RooGroups, and more.
Join the Staff Council Outreach Committee as we volunteer to sort food for Harvesters. Families and children ages 8 and up are welcome to join. Our UMKC team will be assigned a task in the Harvesters warehouse like sorting food, packing backpack snacks, or working in the coolers. Space is limited--sign up today.
UMKC Staff Volunteer Day at Junior Achievement BizTown: Mar. 1, 8:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
UMKC Staff Council Outreach Committee is planning their annual Junior Achievement volunteer day. UMKC volunteers will staff JA BizTown storefronts, assisting students at work while getting guidance from Junior Achievement staff. Position-specific training will occur the morning of the event, and there is no required training beforehand. Storefronts will be assigned the day of the event and there is no industry-specific knowledge required. Space is limited.
Next UMKC Staff Council Meeting: Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m.
All are welcome at UMKC Staff Council meetings. Meetings generally occur the first Wednesday of every month, from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in-person and via Zoom. The Jan. 2024 meeting has moved to the second Wednesday of the month due to the Winter Break.
