LEAD PROGRAM
 HIGHLIGHTS!
Virtual Leadership Connection Cohort Series
The Leadership Connection Cohort Series provided an opportunity where students and staff could learn about various leadership topics that can be applied to current and future courses, careers, and social change. This semester we had two amazing Leadership Connection Cohort Series installments facilitated by our Leadership Consultants. The first was on Student Activism and Civic Engagement, and the second on Global Health and Leadership. The Student Activism and Civic Engagement session empowered students to think about how they could make an impact in the world through activism and student civic engagement, providing students with an opportunity to think of ways to solve problems in society and invigorate students to make positive change. The second session on Global Health and Leadership focused on developing leadership within the global health field and aimed to help students develop leadership qualities to help motivate students planning to help communities battling disparities and health threats.
This program allowed students to develop a deeper understanding of leadership and offer ways in which they could incorporate leadership behaviors within their lives. Through this program, are able to gain leadership skills in a non-positional setting that are beneficial for professional experience and resume-building!

Students were also able to gain more insight into different motivations, actions, and communication approaches as they connect to leadership. Finally, Leadership Across Difference was also an interactive virtual workshop that allowed for students to look at various leadership styles across differences, from A to Z (click here to learn more).

May 2024
LEAD is planning to offer the “Leadership Across Difference: Lessons from Medieval Spain” study abroad program again in May 2024. It’s not too early to start thinking about how this course can fit into your schedule.
This is the 2nd time that LEAD is offering this leadership study abroad program. Participants will learn how part of what is now Spain was ruled by an Islamic civilization called Al-Andalus. They will explore how Muslims, Christians and Jews collaborated and lived together relatively peacefully for hundreds of years and that this history is also contested. The program will help prepare students to be more effective, ethical leaders by introducing them to historical examples of conflict, cooperation and collaboration across difference in Spain. Participants will examine the history of this region with a specific focus on what we can learn about leadership & ethics across difference, that is applicable to students and life today.
