» Happy New Yearwood: Not only is it the year of Garth Brooks' return, it's also a country homecoming for his wife Trisha Yearwood, who revealed she's signed a record deal with Sony Nashville label RCA. She'll release a new album, PrizeFighter, this fall.

"I can't even find the right words to express how excited I am to be releasing new music!" said Yearwood at her Aug. 19 press conference at Nashville venue The Cordelle. "I chose the title PrizeFighter because it feels like an anthem for all of us. It's about fighting for what you believe in and never giving up, even when it's hard. It's a message we all need to hear. I'm so looking forward to working with the amazing staff at Sony. Music is what feeds my soul, and I'm grateful to them for giving me the chance to share what I love."

Yearwood and her band gave a sneak peek of what you'll hear on the Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood, kicking off Sept. 4 in Chicago. But there was much more to celebrate: the fifth season of Trisha's Southern Kitchen, which debuts Aug. 23 on Food Network; plans for a third cookbook; her own line of Precious Metals cookware and cutlery; and a partnership with Hellman's.

» Breaking The Ice: The Ice Bucket Challenge is still flowing through the country community. George StraitGarth BrooksJoe Nichols and Colt Ford are among the latest stars who've dumped icy water over themselves to raise awareness and money for ALS. The list grows daily and also includes Reba McEntire, Kelleigh BannenShania Twain, Faith HillChelsea Bain and Jason Michael Carroll. If you haven't willingly poured freezing cold water over your head yet, you don't know what you're missing. Do it and then don't forget to make a donation here.

» One For The Brooks: If you tried to get tickets to one of Garth Brooks' Chicago shows and had problems, Brooks wants to help you out. He's added another Windy City concert at 10:30pm Sept. 5 for a total of 11 in that market. "After seeing how happy everyone was in Atlanta about ticket access, I feel whatever the problem was has now been fixed," he says. "I would like to put on one more show in Chicago so people [who] wanted tickets and could not get in the system now have a chance to see the show, and [can] get their tickets at face value and not have to go through the scalper/broker systems if they don't want to." The new show goes on sale Saturday (8/23) at 10am here.

» Carrie On: On Sept. 7 the Indianapolis Colts may be playing the Denver Broncos, but our money's on Team Underwood. Carrie Underwood sings "Waiting All Day For Sunday Night," the NBC-TV Sunday Night Football opening theme. This year she'll be joined by some pretty big pigskin peeps. Eleven NFL players will take part, including Broncos QB Peyton Manning, New York Giants QB Eli Manning and Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy, who jokes, "They might want me to replace Carrie Underwood. Out of all the players, I'm definitely the best singer." Get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the opening theme here.
