Last week, several hundred students from Hampton City Schools, as well as chaperones and teachers, visited the Strome College of Business and Old Dominion University for hands-on business learning. The students participated in interactive lessons with Rhett Epler (Marketing), Andrew Cohen (Finance) and Max Siangchokyoo (Management) to gain exposure to Strome and its business curriculum. 

Old Dominion University Professor Emeritus Wayne Talley, Ph.D., an Eminent Scholar of Economics who won the 2018 International Onassis Prize in Shipping – sometimes described as the Nobel Prize for maritime economics research – died on Jan. 29. He was 82.

“We all benefited from Wayne's true dedication to academic excellence and his thought leadership,” said Erika Marsillac, Ph.D., interim dean of the Strome College of Business, where Dr. Talley made his professional home. “He leaves an indelible mark at Strome, at ODU, and in his field. His legacy and advocacy for maritime economics research, while started at ODU, extends around the globe.”

Last week, students and partners participated in the Sales Career Fair for Spring 2025. Despite the rainy weather, the turnout was strong. industry partners included  Jennifer Dobrzynski from Enterprise Mobility; Alexis Borum and Alfred Posis, FPC from ADP; Greg Youker, Alan Plunket and Patrick Pugh from Fastenal; Samantha Sours, MBA, ACIR, CIR and Dustin Maguire from CoStar Group; Christian Olanowski and Jai Mullis from United Rentals; Narcisa Zurita from Northwestern Mutual; and Ryan DeSane from Total Quality Logistics.
