Tallahassee’s Private Sector Earnings Outpace Inflation, Signaling Economic Strength
|
In the preliminary data from May 2025, the Tallahassee Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) recorded a significant rise in private sector average weekly earnings, reaching $1,011. This marks a $65 increase, or 11% growth, compared to May 2024. The impressive jump in earnings far outpaced the South region’s annual inflation rate of 2% (as measured by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers, or CPI-U), resulting in an 9% increase in real wages.
This growth reflects more than just higher paychecks—it signals increasing job quality, business confidence, and workforce demand across Tallahassee-Leon County. The steady rise in earnings enhances local purchasing power and contributes to a more resilient and prosperous economy.
