Africa Newsletter
Dear Members

I am very pleased to be working together with ATMIA in the African region. Having just concluded the ATMIA Africa Conference 2015, our discussions are focused on giving more attention to the role and contribution of the ATM industry in Africa, and at the same time, broaden the conversation across retail banking, ATMs and payments in Africa.

We are also excited to be launching two forums to drive African conversations around technology in banking and to support more information sharing on regulatory matters:

  • ATMIA Africa Technology and Banking Forum
  • ATMIA Africa Regulatory Liaison Committee
See below for more infomation on these forums.

We hope you enjoy the content of this newsletter. Please feel free to send any suggestions on topics you would like to see covered in this newsletter going forward.  Also feel free to contact us if you have a particular interest in any of the two forums.  We also value any information you would like to share with us about developments in the ATM, banking and payments industries in Africa, or information about what your company is doing in these areas in Africa.

Kind regards,
Andrew

ATMIA White Papers
ATMIA and our Board Members & Sponsors share a number of whitepapers for the ATM industry. Some of their latest publications include:

WHY FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS ARE OPTING FOR ATM OUTSOURCING
Owning and operating a fleet of ATMs is expensive and time consuming. At a time when banks and credit unions are under a great deal of pressure, margins are slim and increasing costs can be crippling — outsourcing ATMs can provide a smart, comprehensive and flexible solution. This white paper, sponsored by Outsource ATM, explains why financial institutions are turning to third-party vendor to operate their ATMs.

A SUCCESSFUL OMNICHANNEL BANKING FOR A NEW BRANCH MODEL
The buzzwords in today’s banking industry are omnichannel, channel integration, cross-channel capabilities and a new branch model. Banks, big and small, are approaching a real revolution with the goals of improving customer experience and increasing efficiency.

ATMIA Africa Forums
ATMIA is launching two forums to facilitate discussion around the ATMs and banking technology in Africa.

ATMIA Africa Technology and Banking Forum. The mission of this forum is to promote discussion on the evolving role of technology in retail banking and the implications for banks and other non-bank industry players (such as retailers and mobile network operators) in Africa.  The forum serves to provide additional value to ATMIA members through knowledge-sharing on the role of technology in multi-channel banking and the unique challenges and opportunities that present themselves in Africa.

ATMIA Africa Regulatory Liaison Committee. The mission of this is to promote knowledge-sharing on the regulations, standards and policies that govern the ATM and low-value payment industries in Africa.    The Africa Regulatory Liaison Committee will also work with the ATMIA Global Government Relations Committee (GRC) to share global developments on regulatory matters.

If you are interested in participating in eaither of these forums, or would like to know more, please contact Andrew Dean,
