Student Spotlight
Alexa O'Gorman
Meet Alexa O'Gorman, psychology major and Solutions Scholar! “I come from a tiny town in Washington called White Salmon. I chose Utah for many reasons, one of them being all of the outdoor adventures this state has available. I am an avid skier, backpacker, mt biker, and rock climber. I also love to travel. My junior year of high school I took a trip to Europe and ended up staying for four and a half months, traveling to 17 different countries. I have been blessed with a lifetime of opportunity and culture and I am excited to see where the journey of life takes me next.

I was interested in Solution Scholars because I am passionate about the study of the brain and the decision making process. I love learning about why individuals make the decisions they make and why people feel certain emotions. Why do people have dreams and what do they mean? I thought that this passion and my interest in the brain must be rooted in psychology. I knew in order to take this passion and turn it into a career, I would need internship and research opportunities to expand my knowledge and grow my resume. I believed that Solution Scholars would be just that place for me. One where I could not only learn, but a place for me to contribute.”

Are you ready to take your online midterms at the UOnline Center?
Are you one of the hundreds of students who will take midterms at the UOnline Center? If so, familiarize yourself with the center’s examination rules, which include:
  • Identification: Students must provide a University of Utah student ID (UCard) when checking in at the UOnline Center. No other IDs are accepted.
  • Breaks During Exams: Exam breaks must be pre-approved by instructors. If a student leaves the exam lab for any reason without this pre-approval, his or her exam may be ended for that session.
  • Open-Book Exams: Some instructors allow students to take open-book or open-notes exams. For such exams, students are required to adhere to the following UOnline Center policies—
    1. Only paper notes can be used in the exam lab. Do not bring your notes on an electronic device.
    2. You must relinquish your notes to the exam lab personnel at the end of the exam. Photocopy your class notes to use during the exam, so you do not need to give up your original (or only) set of course notes.
