The Great Outdoors
Kevin Buchanan, assistant director of student involvement, uses outdoor recreation and the Puget Sound Outdoors (PSO) program to support the personal development of student leaders. This semester, PSO, the Center for Intercultural and Civic Engagement, and Sound Policy Institute partnered to create the Reframing Outdoor Culture lecture series, which featured guest speakers who shared their perspectives on breaking down barriers to outdoor recreation.

HACKS & CHOPS Mongol Court and Chinese Literati From South of Yangtze River: An Anthology of the Studies of Calligraphy and Painting of Yuan China, the latest book by Professor of Art History Zaixin Hong, was published by China Art Academy Press and earned second place in the 28th Chinese Art Book Awards.

The Expeditionary (The Expy) is a student-run outdoor trip and equipment rental center where you can find everything you need to enjoy the great outdoors, from cross-country skis and wetsuits to topographical maps, ice axes, head lamps, and more.

Team Beaver
Discovered in 2007, the world’s largest beaver dam is more than twice the length of the Hoover Dam, and is believed to be the handiwork of generations of beavers over the course of more than 30 years. These industrious creatures may now be our allies in fighting the effects of climate change, according to student and professor researchers on Team Beaver.
