Dear AFRDS members,
We hope you are all enjoying the summer while staying healthy and safe.

Like you, we are closely monitoring the latest news on COVID-19 in the U.S., particularly its impact on school reopenings, which are scheduled to start in some parts of the country in less than a month.  This situation has significant implications for education, children’s physical and mental health, the economy – and of course, the school fundraising industry.

It appears that reopenings will be a patchwork of different models by state or school district.  Some school will reopen entirely.  Some will have a hybrid model with students on campus and learning remote.  Others will start the year entirely virtual.  And once the school year begins, all of that is subject to change over time based on the local situation.  To prepare for what will be an unpredictable fall, some members are revamping parts of their programs.  Be sure to watch the recent AFRDS webinars, including How Technology Can Help You this Fall from last week, to see some of those innovative ideas.

Meanwhile, some of you are asking about the 2021 AFRDS Conference & Expo scheduled for this January in Las Vegas.  Industry trends indicate that many trade associations with in-person meetings scheduled for Q1 are moving ahead with their plans.  Right now, AFRDS is planning to host The Expo as planned, in-person at Planet Hollywood.  Exhibit sales are on track to open next month.

Of course, the safety of our members is a top priority.  AFRDS is closely monitoring the situation in the U.S. and Las Vegas, including government guidance and rules, and we will continue to keep you updated.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
