‘Top Docs’ explores ‘Life as 4th-year medical student’ & MAG rotations
The latest edition of the Medical Association of Georgia’s (MAG) ‘Top Docs’ show addresses ‘Life as a 4th-year medical student’ and MAG’s non-clinical rotation program – and it features Yassmin Shariff and Vash Patel, who are fourth-year students at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (PCOM) campus in Suwanee.
They discuss…
– Key issues and challenges for fourth-year medical students
– Medical school debt, and how it can lead to burnout
– Whether the medical profession’s work-life balance culture is changing
– The loan forgiveness programs that are available for physicians who agree to practice in rural areas
– What lawmakers can do to improve Georgia’s practice environment
– What physicians and medical students can do to influence public policy
– Why it’s important for medical students and physicians to support organized medicine
– What role technology and the private sector will play in medicine going forward
– Their experiences at MAG
Shariff has a degree in biochemistry from Georgia Tech and a master’s degree in biological sciences from Drexel University – and she will pursue a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Patel has a degree in biotechnology from Penn State University, as well as a master’s degree in biomedical science from PCOM.

Between downloads and live listeners, ‘Top Docs’ has now reached more than 825,000 listeners and viewers – which includes people in all 50 states and more than 80 countries. MAG has won two awards for the show, including an American Association of Medical Society Executives Profiles of Excellence Award and a Health Information Resource Center Digital Health Award.
