Student Job Openings: Hands-on Experience Assisting Public Water Systems with Federal Rule Requirements Compliance |
Jacobs, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin System and Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin, is hiring students to work with water systems across Wisconsin, providing technical assistance to identify the location and material of service lines and meet the goals of the federal Lead and Copper Rule Revisions.
Students will work with local government entities and public utilities; become familiarized with drinking water regulations; and gain hands-on experience with data collection and field work. $20-$30/per hour. In-person and remote. November 2023 through August 2024. A virtual informational webinar for students to learn more will take place Nov. 15. Application deadline: Nov. 26.

Center for Water Policy Seeks Water Policy and Science Communications Graduate Fellow |
The Center for Water Policy is seeking candidates for a two-year funded Water Policy and Science Communications Graduate Student Research Fellowship, while earning a master’s degree from the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. The Fellowship will begin in Fall 2024 and run through Spring 2026.
To be considered for the Fellowship, the student must be admitted to the School’s water policy thesis track in the master’s degree program. Fall semester 2024 admission deadline is Jan. 15, 2024. Please share with students who may be interested.

Spend Summer 2024 Conducting Freshwater Research |
The Freshwater@UW Summer Research Opportunities Program is accepting applications for 2024. This program provides students with funded research positions with faculty mentors across the state. Housing, food and stipend will be provided to a minimum of 25 students. Projects will take place May 28-Aug. 3, 2024, at UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-La Crosse, UW-Green Bay, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh and Manitowoc, WI. Application deadline: Feb. 15.

Do you know or work with high school students or teachers? Please share this great summer opportunity. Faculty from UW-Eau Claire, UW-Oshkosh, UW-River Falls and UW-Stout invite current high school juniors to spend a week in June 2024 exploring western Wisconsin’s freshwater resources and learning about freshwater-related degree programs and potential careers. Program costs are covered by the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin. Apply by Dec. 1, 2023.
