X-STEM Phoenix Highlights

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us in-person at X-STEM Phoenix! We had nearly 2,000 students, educators, and parents attend X-STEM Phoenix on December 8th!
Emcee Bogi Lateiner kept our audience entertained and informed throughout the event.
As the science advisor for the Star Trek franchise, astrophysicist Dr. Erin Macdonald demonstrated that you don’t need to leave your creative side behind to pursue a career in STEM.

Lt Col Cassandra McCloud gave students a look into what it is like to be a Deputy Base Civil Engineer at Goldwater Air National Guard Base.
Dr. Thomas Sugar discussed the wonders of wearable robotics that can enhance mobility and increase a person’s strength to make regular, everyday work easier. Check out the innovative robotics research taking place at ASU:
West Pharmaceutical's very own Liat Shochat inspired all in the field of medical delivery systems and showed students what the future of medicine could hold!
The X-STEM Phoenix audience was captivated by a STEM concert from aerospace engineer and grammy-nominated musician Roy Moye III.

We are so thankful to all of our X-STEM Phoenix speakers for coming together to create this wonderful event!

X-STEM Phoenix Workshops

Not only did students get to hear from an inspiring group of STEM professionals but students also had the opportunity to get hands-on with STEM in special workshops!
West Pharmaceuticals taught students about innovative technologies used in drug delivery systems including 3D-printing technologies, plastic molding, and 3D computer tomography.
Education Empowers helped students learn about robotics, drones, self-driving cars, and Artificial intelligence (AI). They showed students how AI can transform photos and images, help with homework essays, and even create a cartoon character that looks just like them! Even if you didn't get to join us in Phoenix, here's a chance to "Meet a STEM Professional". Meet a STEM Professional -Rebeca Delgado, Meet a STEM Professional - Mr Stewart Christie
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office took students through a forensic overview of Latent Fingerprints, Exemplar Collection, Presumptive Blood Testing and Robotics. Attendees got to learn about the whys and hows of a few law enforcement forensic tactics, such as how to properly dust smooth or nonporous surfaces with fingerprint powder, obtain a reaction from stains on cloth material, and the proper way to do an exemplar collection. They also learned about how robotics are used at a Law Enforcement capacity, along with getting to meet two of Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office robots face to face.
Did you know that new cars today have more computer power than the space shuttle? Students at X-STEM Phoenix learned just that! TechForce showed attendees how the world of tech and hands-on careers goes way further than the classic wrench. From circuit boards to volt meters, they spent time using hands-on activities to understand the intersection between technicians and technology on the ground and in the air.
Thank you to all of our wonderful workshop hosts for bringing STEM to life for our X-STEM Phoenix students!
