Mid-Winter break reminder

As a reminder, there will be no school Thursday and Friday this week and Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Before and After School Care (BASC) will be available Thursday, Friday and Tuesday, though field trip registration for those days has closed. For more information, contact BASC manager Michelle Hewitt.

ARROW College Fair

Sound Christian Academy is hosting an ARROW College Fair from 2-3:30 p.m. on March 8.

This special event will be a chance for high school students and their parents to meet college representatives and learn about programs and scholarships.

ARROW, which stands for Association for Regional Representatives of Oregon and Washington, will have 12 schools in attendance. Several more representatives have been invited and will be attending.

Athletics update

SeaTac League champs!

The Sound Christian Lions boys basketball team won its first SeaTac League Conference Tournament in 15 years last week, defeating Evergreen Lutheran 53-39.

The Lions earned the top seed to the Class 1B District 1/2/3 Tournament and will host Summit Classical Christian at a time to be determined Tuesday in Douglas E. Bond Gymnasium on Coach Beth Wing Court.

If the Lions win Tuesday, they earn a state tournament berth and will then play for seeding.

Tickets must be purchased through GoFan and will not be sold at the door. No passes will be accepted, including for students.

Girls varsity season comes to a close

The Sound Christian Lions girls basketball season came to an end Saturday with a 43-34 loss to Crescent in a Class 1B District 1/2/3 Tournament play-in game.

The Lions finished the season with a 15-6 record and a third-place finish in the conference tournament.

Congratulations to seniors Ella, Savannah and Marisa for a fabulous season and an even better career.

Donations are rolling in, but we need more

The SCA Advancement Office is hard at work preparing for our 40th annual auction & Ruby Gala on Friday March 24th at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Tacoma, just down the street from the school. This annual event is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we can't make it happen without the support and generosity of SCA families, friends and businesses around our community.

We're looking for donations of new items and experiences. Have you got some box seats you are willing to donate to a game? A timeshare, some play tickets, or even some gift cards for a night on the town gift basket?

No donation is too big or too small. Donations can be turned in between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday in the Administration building.

International students

The International Students Program is as busy as can be and needs your help.

We have two short-term hosting opportunities where you can showcase not only our great school, but the amazing country we are blessed to live in.

March 25-April 2: We have a ninth-grade female student from Japan coming to check out our school and need a host
May 19-22: We will have 40 Japanese students in town to visit and need to provide housing. A stipend is provided and this is similar to the group of 20 we had visit in November, which was wildly successful.
