Arts Advocacy - State Update
Yesterday, Governor Pete Ricketts returned LB327, the state's budget bill for the next two years, to the Legislature with his signature, but with line-item reductions.
Various state agencies would see a 0.5% appropriation reduction. Agencies that had already been reduced by 3% or more would not be affected. This includes the Nebraska Arts Council, which had a 4% reduction to its operating budget in LB327.
If your organization or business is within one-half mile of a river, you could be included in future Riverfront Development Districts. Senator Sue Crawford's LB97 was signed by the Governor on May 10. The bill gives cities the authorization to establish districts to fund, manage, promote and develop riverfronts within city limits. Districts would be overseen and managed by a riverfront development authority appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council.
