April is Math Awareness Month

Let's make math fun again.

Some folks might say that math was never fun, but it is an integral part of all schooling especially as technology continues to be integrated into the workforce.

According to studies, only 44 percent of American high school graduates are ready for college-level math, but at Sound Christian we are trying to change that.

Be on the lookout for fun activities this month and for our teachers to introduce math tips and skills into non-traditonal math classes.

Purple Up Day is April 18

Be sure and wear purple on April 18 for Purple Up Day as we honor the children of military members.

Having a mom or dad who serves in the military and is constantly gone serving the country puts a strain on everyone involved, but especially the children. So we want to make sure they know that we here at SCA support them wholeheartedly.

Open enrollment is now underway

We already have record numbers signed up for next year and with open enrollment officially open, we expect spots to fill up very quickly for the fall.

Don't miss your chance to reserve your child's spot for the 2023-24 school year before it's too late.

It's Spring Break which means we don't get to enjoy Kim Young's delicious lunches this week. (crying emoji).

But we will be able to enjoy it next week. See what your student will be eating this month at SCA.

IOWA standardized testing update

Grades 6-8 will be taking their online IOWA standardized tests this week and it is important that all students are on time to make sure to cause as few disruptions as possible.

If a student is late to school this week then they will be required to wait in the lobby outside the office so testing will not be interrupted.

Grades 3-5 will be testing April 17 and April 19-21, while Grades 1-2 will be testing April 24-28.

Don't forget your volunteer hours

All high school students are required to complete a set amount of volunteer hours each school year.

Seniors must complete a minimum of 20 service hours.
Juniors must complete a minimum of 15 service hours.
Sophomores must complete a minimum of 10 service hours.
Freshmen must complete a minimum of 5 service hours.

All service hours must be served in the community (outside of a student's family). Turn your service hour form into Mrs. Jones or Mrs. Reinmuth in the office. Forms can be found here.
