The Pluralism, Free Inquiry and Belonging 2026-27 Academic Year Faculty Fellows Program at Duke supports up to 15 faculty members committed to fostering open dialogue, intellectual diversity, and inclusive excellence. Fellows participate in monthly seminars, workshops, training sessions and peer consultations to develop practical skills and resources for promoting constructive dialogue across differences in and beyond the classroom.

The program builds a cross-disciplinary community of practice and encourages the creation of adaptable discourse resources for faculty, graduate instructors, and staff. Fellows receive a $5,000 stipend to their research accounts and may request up to $2,000 to hire student assistants for their projects.

We invited Duke leaders to tell us about the books and shows that have captured their imagination after a busy academic year.

Faculty members can gain a better understanding of how the Duke Faculty and Staff Retirement Plan works and how they can maximize their potential for retirement savings.

Professor Annette Joseph-Gabriel provides guidance on how she found the people, community and programs that supported her before tenure — and that continue to help her now.

Duke Arts presents a free summer outdoor concert series — Arts on East — celebrating Durham’s musical heritage and the We the People initiative marking 250 years since independence.

The Faculty Fellows Program helps Duke faculty design semester‑long courses where students learn through collaborative, applied research projects; this year includes 15 faculty from seven schools.

Duke faculty have access to NCFDD's mentoring and virtual programs that enhance research productivity, time management and career development at all career stages.
