Prof. Plunkett recently welcomed Peter Rodriguez, VP of Finance at St. Louis City SC, to campus. Peter discusses his start in auditing at EY and how his career progressed to working in industry, up to his very interested career leading all things accounting and finance at our MLS soccer franchise. His journey is a prime example of the unlimited options indicative of starting one's career in public accounting. Peter also gives his thoughts on the state of the profession for new professionals, compensation and work-life balance.

Our annual Civic Action Week will take place from Feb. 17-24, and it’s an event series that spotlights civic and community engagement opportunities for students across WashU. This year’s Civic Action Week aims to emphasize that civic engagement goes beyond elections, and there are many ways we can have an impact that can extend to engagement with our communities and the social issues that are important to us.
The events are presented not only by Gephardt, but by student groups, WashU schools, and departments who propose and put on Civic Action Week programming. Gephardt leads the overall effort, supports student groups with event planning, and promotes all events. For student groups, we also provide up to $500 to help put the event on.
