NYU Shanghai welcomed over 50 study away students from NYU, NYU Abu Dhabi, and other schools to campus just in time to celebrate Spring Festival together. During the holiday, students explored the city and visited the homes of NYU Shanghai students living in Shanghai and surrounding cities. 

• Congratulations to Assistant Arts Professor of Interactive Media and Business (IMB) Noel Joyce, who won an award for the Most Innovative Product by Singletrack World Magazine for his work on Project Mjolnir, an open-source design for an adaptive e-mountain bike. 


• Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Sociology Yi-Lin Chiang, who has been named a 2024 Young Scholar of the Year by South Reviews for her book Study Gods: How the New Chinese Elite Prepare for Global Competition. The award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions in fields such as science, culture, and economics over the past year. 


• Congratulations to Associate Professor of Marketing Yan Dengfeng, who has been awarded the 2024 Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award, making him the first NYU Shanghai faculty member to receive this honor. The Baosteel Education Award recognizes excellence in teaching and research, with 283 educators nationwide receiving the award this year.

• In January, NYU Shanghai hosted events for Early Decision I admitted students both at NYU Shanghai and in New York in January. The Shanghai event welcomed seven admitted students and 19 family members from the United States, Mongolia, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan for a day of activities on and off campus.

Class is back in session and the spring semester is off to a great start! It’s great to see the campus buzzing with activity again.
