• NYU Shanghai and NYU Silver’s joint
Masters in Social Work Program at Shanghai and New York has launched a new collaboration with Jiahui International Hospital (Shanghai), marking a major step toward advancing integrated health and social care in China. Officially recognized as a practicum site, Jiahui will provide MSW students with hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary hospital setting. MSW Program Director Dr.
Xu Qingwen, Jiahui Health Executive Committee Chairman Dr. John K. Hsiang, and nearly one hundred medical professionals and patients’ families attended a launch ceremony on October 18.

Yu Danyang’s Genetics Lab students participated in a hands-on workshop on facial reconstruction and its applications in genetics, forensics, and archeology, led by Dr. Rye Liang from Fudan University School of Medicine’s Human Body Museum. Using skull models, students studied anatomy and attached 18 sets of major muscles to build a scaffold of a human face. They then used plaster cloth to sculpt the fat pads and provide volume and shape of a face. Modeling clay was applied to simulate the skin texture. Skin pigmentation and facial details will be added next week.
• On Thursday, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Associate Professor Kei Koga gave a
lecture on how Japan navigates US-China Relations. The talk was hosted by Political Science Associate Professor
Ivan Rasmussen.
• On Thursday, Yale Professor Stephen Roach gave a
lecture on US-China conflict resolution. He provided a different framework for a new architecture of engagement, featuring the establishment of a permanent US-China Secretariat to complement existing diplomatic channels. He proposed a transition built around current bilateral working groups to begin the urgent process of repairing the world’s most important relationship.
