Board of Directors 2018 Election Year

If you are a member coach with five years of NSDA coaching experience, a current or past district chair, or a present Board member whose term expires on July 31, 2018, consider running for the national Board of Directors! In addition to representing your fellow coaches in policy decisions regarding membership, the honor society, and the National Tournament, elected members have the opportunity to help shape the organization's strategy and vision for the future.

To declare your candidacy, please notify the Executive Director in writing before January 19, 2018, by certified mail. The seats of Board members Don Crabtree, David Huston, Pam McComas, and Jay Rye are up for election in 2018.
Dates to Remember
  • Each candidate shall be alloted one Rostrum column, unedited by the national office, to support their candidacy. Each candidate may include a photo to accompany the column. Candidacy statements of 400 words or less along with high-resolution photos should be emailed to director@speechanddebate.org by January 19, 2018.
  • Ballots will be made available to schools in April 2018.
  • Results will be announced in May 2018.

Apply to Present at the National Conference

We hope you will join us July 28-31, 2018, for the second annual NSDA National Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. We are eager to invite a range of sessions that support our theme of Radiant Voices: Empowerment through Speech and Debate. Presenter submissions are due October 31, 2017.
We are excited to curate the best proposals that show how speech and debate empowers Radiant Voices. Please note that our conference is focused on more than just winning at speech and debate. We want sessions that transform classroom, team, and community experiences in speech and debate. Feedback from previous conferences suggests that attendees want to leave with specific resources to implement in their programs. Please think through how to make your presentation practical to attendees. To learn more about guidelines and the selection process, click here
