Dr. Fritz Bartel was awarded the 2023 ED A Hewett Book Prize for his book, "The Triumph of Broken Promises: The End of the Cold War and the Rise of Neoliberalism."

Dr. Angela Seaworth recently attended Fayette Community Foundation's South Central Rural Philanthropy Day 2023. Dr. Seaworth facilitated multiple sessions and moderated a conversation between Susannah Mikulin, CEO of the Fayette Community Foundation, and Cheryl Hudec Pekar, CEO of the Stanzel Family Foundation, about their recent successes with strategic planning.

Dr. Kalena Cortes, Verlin and Howard Kruse '52 Founders Professor, presented her her paper titled: "A Bridge to Success: Post-Secondary Effects of an Alternative Pathway for Students Who Fail High School Exit Exams" at the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM) fall annual conference and the University of Michigan's The Marsal Family School of Education.

Dr. Kalena Cortes was also an invited speaker at MIT Blueprint Lab's preschool research convening, “Creating a Research Agenda to Improve Preschool Quality and Equity.” The convening brought together preschool practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and funders to define a research agenda and foster new research-practice partnerships.

Dr. Will Brown, the director of the Center for Nonprofits & Philanthropy, published a study in Sociological Spectrum with Dr. Arnold Vedlitz and others. The study empirically analyzes how risk awareness and perceived nonprofit responsiveness and satisfaction influence beneficiaries’ donations and volunteering during and after natural hazards.

Dr. Cary J. Nederman published a paper, "Give Peace a Chance...For What? Paine, Kant and Democratic Peace," investigating the normative background to the connection between democracy and peace, commonly associated with Immanuel Kant.
- Dr. Danny Davis was interviewed on KTLA, Channel 5, (Los Angeles, CA), where he provided thoughts on the car explosion at Rainbow Bridge between New York and Canada. At the time of the interview, it was unknown whether the incident was terrorist related.
