No foreigners to pain

This semester, the National Institutes of Health awarded Professor of Psychology Jamie Rhudy, director of TU’s Psychophysiology Laboratory for Affective Neuroscience, $514,891 for the first year of his research on Native American pain inequity. The grant will provide approximately $2.75 million during the projected five-year award.

If you squint really hard

Four faculty members from TU’s College of Engineering and Natural Sciences recently received a $461,162 grant from the National Science Foundation Major Research Instrumentation program that will enable the study of nanoscale materials, from solar cells to pharmaceuticals and wax crystals in oil pipelines to consumer products like shampoo.

Climbing an entrepreneurial Everest

TU’s Collins College of Business has partnered with 36 Degrees North, Tulsa’s basecamp for entrepreneurs, remote workers and innovators. The agreement allows all TU students and faculty to enjoy in 36°N’s workspace and resources and provides students with a more purposeful connection to the city’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

And for my second act

Stalling at the associate professor stage is a problem in higher education as mid-career faculty contend with demands for service and mentoring; scholars struggle to produce second books. TU has launched a direct response to these challenges: the Second Book Institute, conceived by Professor of English Laura Stevens and Associate Professor of Anthropology Danielle Macdonald.
