Tax season has come and gone — a perfect reminder that some tasks need attention every year. A financial plan isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it thing; life changes, and your plan should too. We meet with clients as often as their lives require. Can your friends and family say the same about their advisor? When did they last hear from theirs? Give them a nudge — with everything on our plates, a friendly reminder can make a big difference.

How did your financial score card look this tax season? |
Tax season just wrapped up, and for most people that means filing is done, a refund is received (or a payment is made), and then it’s on to the next thing. But your tax return is more than paperwork—it’s a financial scorecard. It tells the story of how efficient you were over the past year: not just how much you made, but how much you kept, how much you saved, and how much may have gone to taxes unnecessarily.
Once your return is finalized, this is where real planning begins. It gives us a chance to evaluate whether you maximized contributions to accounts like your 401(k), Roth IRA, or HSA, if you landed in the tax bracket we expected, and whether there were missed opportunities like Roth conversions or tax strategies throughout the year. The reality is, by the time you’re signing your return, most of the decisions that impact your outcome have already been made—which is why planning ahead matters.
Now is the time to use that scorecard. Make sure to bring in your most recent tax return so we can review it alongside your overall financial plan and ensure you’re maximizing every opportunity available to you moving forward. Small adjustments today can lead to better tax efficiency, more intentional saving, and fewer surprises next year.
Everyone hopes for a good score at tax time. We make sure you get the score you’re working toward.
