Share Your Thoughts on TriMet Service Cuts |
Significant changes to TriMet service are coming in August 2026. To make transit more efficient and save money, TriMet has announced service proposals that will make substantial changes to transit service across the tri-county area, including bus lines that serve the Central Eastside.
The MAX Green Line will also be shortened under the proposal. Several bus
lines will be extended, creating new east-west connections between most
Green Line stations and the City Center. Some bus lines will be eliminated.
TriMet is reducing service, among other cost-saving measures, due to rising costs as well as a drop in ridership and a lack of sustainable funding. While TriMet has already reduced its annual expenses by about $150 million through internal cuts and pausing plans to increase bus service, the transit agency needs to reduce service in 2026 and 2027 to close a projected budget gap and stabilize its finances.
You can learn more about TriMet’s service proposals, find an open house
near you, and complete the online survey at the link below. Reminder: Public comment period closes January 31.
