Dear Friends,
What a joy and privilege it is to welcome you to Emory. We at the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life are so excited to start this year together with you and we look forward to having you join Emory’s vibrant community. Welcome!
My name is Shweta and I am the Hindu chaplain at the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life. I joined OSRL in February of this year and have had the privilege of supporting Hindu life on campus. From weekly Aartis and discussions to festival observances and celebrations, it has been a joy to partake in these activities with the community, and now I’ll look forward to partaking in them with you. In addition to supporting Hindu life, I have had the honor of supporting spiritual life for students, faculty, and staff more broadly alongside my wonderful colleagues at OSRL. Whether you are religious, non-religious, or just curious about your own spirituality, the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life is here to walk with you on your path in exploring meaning, purpose and belonging.
Though this school year begins amid uncertainty due to the pandemic, know that you join a resilient, thoughtful and creative group of individuals at Emory. As we collectively seek ways forward, I’m reminded of one quote from the chāndogya upaniṣad.
